- Simple leaf; 7-9 uniform lobes; broadest at apex with bristle tips
- Upper leaf surface semi-glossy

Notes: One of the most outstanding oaks for landscape use. The Shumard Oak makes an excellent shade tree with fall color in red, orange and yellow. Performs best in well-drained soils. In sites with poorly drained soils, Nuttall Oak (Quercus nuttallii) may be a better choice |
