Identification:
  • Opposite arrangement of leaves and stem
  • Pinnately compound leaf with 7 leaflets
  • Numerous single winged samara, 1 to 2 inches in length on female trees
  • Dark gray bark, furrows divided into diamond-shaped sections
Notes: Native to the Eastern United States, Green Ash forms an excellent, fast growing shade tree.  Highly adaptable to urban conditions and frequently used as a street tree. Many cultivars exist in the nursery trade with outstanding fall color and seedless forms
