Notes: The Abyssinian Banana is a rapid growing species and makes a bold statement in the landscape. Although not fully cold hardy, Ensete can be used as an annual in the tropical garden and sometimes may over winters in the right microclimate. The large leaf and upright form require a large space to achieve good size. Once difficult to find and expensive, the Abyssinian Banana has become more widely available in the nursery industry due to efforts in producing plants through tissue culture |
